How Does Your Garden Grow? – With Bloombox

Everyone loves getting flowers through the post and we at Home of Juniper are excited by a new company who has added a twist. Instead of cut flowers a carefully picked box of potted plants and flowers arrives at your door each month. Flowers and plants bring beauty and positivity wherever they are. They are, also, acknowledge to have health benefits, taking bad toxins out of the air, and increasing mental health. The lovely thing about The BloomBox Club is that, as well as having beautiful, expertly picked plants arrive at your door at a regular basis (there are different subscriptions); you also become part of a community, with garden and plant knowledge shared with their followers. Which makes this great for expert plant growers, or people new to plant care. We asked, Sarah Lawton, one of the brands directors, to tell us a little more about this wonderful company.

How and when was Boombox started? It is a great idea, where did the idea come from?

BloomBox Club is the brainchild of our founder, Katie Gilbert. She’s always enjoyed gardening, and comes at it from a mindful focus. It’s a brilliant hobby to get yourself in the moment, and to enjoy caring for and growing things. Her background is as a Dr of Psychology, so she knows first hand how good it is for the soul!

Can you tell us a little about yourselves, and how you met?

We met via my sisters ex-husband’s brother, who I also went to school with. He recommended me as a solution to her social media and marketing needs and we went from there. I joined as a cofounder in January!

What do people get when they sign up to Bloombox?

We have lots of different things at different times on the shop, but our main focus is on plants by subscription. Our Indoor Sub brings with it one unique and interesting houseplant every three months, with a beautiful ceramic pot and of course one of our care cards to tell you exactly how to look after it. Our Outdoor Sub also comes every three months, but this one includes 5 gorgeous plants, their care cards, and a hessian sack to plant them up together in – we even throw in the soil! It’s your ready made urban gardening kit in a box.

Why do you think plants are so important to have in peoples homes, gardens and offices?

Well, aside from the fact that we literally need them to make the air we breathe, they are just lovely to have around, They look great, they (usually) smell great, and looking after them gives you a real sense of well being and pleasure – watching a plant thrive and bloom is a real joy.

Can you tell us a little more about working with Mr Plant Geek?

Yes he’s our favourite. He helps us choose all our plants and writes us blogs about them and all the things plants can bring to your life, from Interior Design to Kitchen Gardening Hacks. He also writes all our care cards so people can learn about their plants as well as enjoy looking at them.plant in pot against yellow wall boombox howeofjuniper

What are your favourite plants?

I love Alocasias – the leaves are amazing! (shown above)

What is your best tip for someone who has ‘no clue’ with gardening?

Sign up for a BloomBox of course! You don’t even need a garden. A balcony, patio, windowsill – even a doorstep will do!
