Floral By Arrangement – An Interview with Pod & Pip
Any one who has followed Home of Juniper for a while will have realised we love flowers and plants. In the garden and the home. Not only are they beautiful, they make us feel happy. Following Pod & Pip on Instagram , and their other social media sites, we have enjoyed seeing a stunning and unique mix of flowers and bouquets. So we decided to have a bit of a chat with the Muddy Stiletto Finalists of 2017. Pod & Pip All the stunning images in this blog are from the Pod and Pip website, you can see why we wanted to talk to them. Here is our interview with the lovely Sarah from Pod and Pip:
When did Pod and Pip start?
March 2016
Have you always been passionate about flowers and plants?
Yes. I did a an applied biology degree which specialised in crop and soil science, so I’ve got a background in plants. I always had a love for plants and the countryside.
You have workshops throughout the year, do you get a range of abilities? And do you have a favourite workshop to do?
Yes, seasonal workshops throughout the year, from Bouquet Workshops for Mothers Day through to Christmas Wreath Workshops and DIY Wedding Flower Workshops. I really enjoy all the workshops and the best bit for me is seeing people enjoy working with flowers and have a huge smile on their face! Yes, the courses are perfect for absolute beginners and people with some experience, I keep them very relaxed. I just want everyone to love the flowers and their time at the workshop.
What are your favourite flowers (or foliage) to use in bouquets at this time of year?
Snowberries are a big favourite and there are some beautiful dahlias around this time of year to choose from. As well as all the hedgerow pods and pips to forage.
Is it hard to keep coming up with new designs?
I love toning colours together, so it’s all about the colours for me. I also look at foraging and hedgerows for inspiration.
Do you have any tips you can share for keeping bouquets fresher for longer? Yes keep them out of direct sunlight and somewhere cooler i.e. Not by radiator! Snip about 2cm of the end of the stems of the bouquets when you get in and put in freshwater.
What is your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?
Walk Minnie my lovely black Labrador, have Sunday lunch with friends.
A lovely sounding Sunday. If you can’t make it to Wiltshire to join one of their flower arranging workshops, Pod and Pip send out bouquets nationwide (including the gorgeous Snowberry Flower Box shown above) to arrive on a Friday. Ready to enjoy all weekend. Beautiful either as a treat for yourself or someone you care about. Pod and Pip can also do your wedding flowers. With a relaxed style, perfect addition to a country wedding.
How beautiful! Can’t wait to look them up ☺️
